Air plants (Tillandsia)

They are special and peculiar at the same time - sometimes wiry, sometimes fluffy. Tillandsias are an exceptional genus of plants and, due to their obscure appearance, are small eccentrics of the plant world.
The genus comprises over 550 species, making it the most species-rich in the bromeliad family. Tillandsias, which are largely rootless, live primarily on other plants, such as cacti or in the cool, humid lower leaf areas of trees. Water absorption occurs via scale-like structures found on the leaves.
One can classify Tillandsias into "gray" and "green" species.

##break## Protect the environment and wild Tillandsia populations: When buying, look for the label: "Cultivated - not from wild populations".
