Known in German as "Wild Aloe," this succulent belongs to the genus Aloe, which is classified in the Asphodelaceae family. This succulent is native to the South African provinces of Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Free State, and KwaZulu-Natal, as well as Lesotho.
Aloe ferox is green and red and has a rosette growth form. You will receive a plant in a 5.5cm pot, with a total height of pot and plant of about 14cm. The achievable growth height is 50cm to 150cm. Caring for Aloe ferox is relatively simple. A mixture of cactus and succulent soil and mineral components is suitable as a substrate. Aloe ferox does not tolerate waterlogging, so you should ensure good drainage and allow the substrate to dry out before watering again. Generally, this succulent tolerates too little water rather than too much. Fertilizing is possible every three to four weeks.
This succulent needs a bright to semi-shaded location. The optimal temperature is between 20°C and 30°C. Aloe ferox can spend the summer outdoors after being gradually acclimated to direct sunlight. In winter, the temperature should be around 15°C. Fertilizing is stopped, and watering is reduced. However, the plant is not suitable for the garden.
The leaf bark of Aloe ferox contains a poisonous plant sap, and we cannot guarantee its compatibility with animals.
