Care instructions for your Kalanchoe

Succulents store water in their leaves and therefore tolerate drought well. Place them in a bright, sunny spot and only water them when the soil is completely dry. Avoid waterlogging at all costs!

It's better to water a little too little than too much.

I am Kalanchoe tomentosa

The botanical name of this succulent is *Kalanchoe tomentosa*. It is known in German as "Katzenohr" (cat's ear). The succulent belongs to the genus *Kalanchoe*, which is part of the Crassulaceae family. This succulent is native to Madagascar.

Kalanchoe tomentosa is silvery-green, grey to brown at the leaf edges, with a rosette-shaped growth habit. The flower is green, yellowish-brown to purple and bell-shaped. It forms during the flowering period in spring and summer, but is rare. You will receive a plant in a 6cm pot, with a total height of pot and plant of about 10cm. The maximum height it can reach is 45cm.
Caring for Kalanchoe tomentosa is relatively simple. A mixture of cactus and succulent soil is suitable as a substrate. Kalanchoe tomentosa does not tolerate waterlogging, so you should ensure good drainage and allow the substrate to dry out before watering again. Generally, this succulent tolerates too little water rather than too much. Fertilizing is possible once a month, i.e., every four weeks.
This succulent needs a sunny to bright location to meet its light requirements. The optimal temperature is between 20°C and 30°C. Kalanchoe tomentosa can spend the summer outdoors after being gradually acclimated to direct sunlight. In winter, the temperature should be around 15°C. Furthermore, fertilization is stopped and watering is reduced. However, this succulent is not suitable for the garden.
This succulent can be propagated by leaf and stem cuttings. Kalanchoe tomentosa is poisonous.
