Care instructions for your Stephania
Care instructions for your Stephania
Succulents store water in their leaves and therefore tolerate drought well. Place them in a bright, sunny spot and only water them when the soil is completely dry. Avoid waterlogging at all costs!
It's better to water a little too little than too much.

Your new succulent roommate 🌿
I am Stephania erecta
The Stephania erecta is one of the few houseplants that sheds its foliage, i.e. its leaves, in autumn. It usually sheds a large part or even all of its leaves. It can look quite sad (not to say: dead). Don't let that deter you!
First, their leaves turn yellow, brown, and dry, and curl slightly before falling off completely.
The Stephania erecta then goes into a kind of hibernation. and will not sprout again until later in the spring.
To ensure your caudex plant can recover properly in winter, you can support it with the following tips:
- Remove fallen leaves from the substrate to prevent them from rotting. You shouldn't actively prune healthy leaves, even if they aren't particularly pretty when yellow.
-
You can move your Stephania erecta to a darker location or leave it in its bright spot.
-
During this colder period, you should water it little to not at all (depending on temperature/light). It also shouldn't be fertilized at this time.
-
When spring arrives and the days become warmer and longer, you can move your Stephania erecta to a brighter location, if you overwintered it in a darker, cooler place.
-
Then water them thoroughly once with a little fertilizer to encourage them to sprout again. This can take a few weeks.
Please note: Sizes and shapes may vary for plants, as each item is unique. This is especially true in winter or when availability is low. The color also varies depending on the season.
