Sulcorebutia rauschii Violet - 5.5cm

The botanical name of this succulent is *Sulcorebutia rauschii* 'Violet'. The synonyms *Sulcorebutia rauschii* cv. *Violacidermis* or *Rebutia rauschii* f. *violacidermis* are also frequently used. In German, it is known as the "Spinnenkaktus" (spider cactus). The succulent belongs to the genus *Sulcorebutia*, which is part of the Cactaceae family. This succulent is native to Bolivia.

Sulcorebutia rauschii 'Violet' is purple, pink to green. The flower is light green to yellow. It forms during the flowering period in summer. You will receive a plant in a 5.5cm pot, with a total height of pot and plant of about 6cm. The achievable growth height is 5cm to 20cm.
Caring for Sulcorebutia rauschii 'Violet' is relatively easy. A mixture of cactus and succulent soil is suitable as a substrate. Sulcorebutia rauschii 'Violet' does not tolerate waterlogging, so you should ensure good drainage and allow the substrate to dry out before watering again. Generally, this succulent tolerates too little water rather than too much. Fertilizing can be done once a month, i.e., every four weeks.
This succulent's light requirement is met in a sunny location. This means a south-facing window with direct sunlight is best. The optimal temperature is between 20°C and 30°C. Sulcorebutia rauschii 'Violet' can spend the summer outdoors after being gradually acclimated to direct sunlight. In winter, the temperature should be around 10°C. Furthermore, fertilization is stopped and watering is reduced. However, this succulent is not suitable for the garden.
This succulent can be propagated by seeds, but also by stem cuttings. Sulcorebutia rauschii 'Violet' can be poisonous.

Furthermore: Sulcorebutias are taproot plants and therefore should be watered carefully. Once the storage is full, the plant no longer absorbs water and the substrate remains moist – this quickly leads to root rot.
