Care instructions for your Cotyledon

Succulents store water in their leaves and therefore tolerate drought well. Place them in a bright, sunny spot and only water when the soil is completely dry. Avoid waterlogging at all costs!

It's better to water a little too little than too much.

I am Cotyledon tomentosa

The botanical name of this succulent is *Cotyledon tomentosa*. The synonym *Cotyledon tomentosa subsp. tomentosa* is also frequently used. In German, it is known as "Bärentatze" (bear's paw).

The succulent belongs to the plant genus Cotyledon, which is classified in the family Crassulaceae. This succulent is native to South Africa and Ethiopia.
Cotyledon tomentosa is green with a compact, branched growth habit. The flower is orange-red to yellow, five-petaled and arranged on a branched peduncle. It develops during the flowering period from summer to autumn. You will receive a plant in an 8.5cm pot, with a total height of pot and plant of about 15cm. The achievable growth height is 40cm to 60cm.
Caring for Cotyledon tomentosa is relatively easy. A mix of cactus and succulent soil is suitable as a substrate. Cotyledon tomentosa does not tolerate waterlogging, so good drainage should be ensured and the substrate should be allowed to dry out before watering again. Generally, this succulent tolerates less water rather than too much. Fertilizing can be done once a month, or every four weeks.
This succulent's light requirement is met in a sunny location. This means a south-facing window with direct sunlight is best. The optimal temperature is between 20°C and 30°C. Cotyledon tomentosa can spend the summer outdoors after gradually acclimating it to direct sunlight. In winter, the temperature should be around 10°C. Furthermore, fertilization is stopped and watering is reduced. However, this succulent is not suitable for the garden.
This succulent can be propagated by seeds, as well as leaf and stem cuttings. Cotyledon tomentosa is generally non-toxic, but we cannot guarantee its suitability for animals.
