Scilla socialis
The botanical name of this succulent is *Scilla socialis* or *Ledebouria socialis*. This succulent is native to KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape of South Africa. It grows in dry savannas in regions with summer rainfall.
Scilla Socialis is a small, geophytic, evergreen bulbous plant from the lily family. The plant forms small, somewhat teardrop-shaped bulbs that sit in thick clumps on the ground. It survives drought as effectively as any other succulent. The leaves are small, silvery-white, and shield-shaped with dark green spots. During flowering, small green and violet flowers appear.
Caring for Scilla Socialis is relatively simple. The bulbs at the base of the plant must be above the soil. A mixture of cactus and succulent soil is suitable as a substrate. Scilla Socialis does not tolerate waterlogging, so you should ensure good drainage and allow the substrate to dry out before watering again. Generally, this succulent tolerates less water rather than too much. Fertilizing is possible once a month, or every four weeks.
This succulent's light requirement is met in a sunny to semi-shaded location. This means a south-facing window with direct sunlight is best. Scilla Socialis can spend the summer outdoors after being gradually acclimated to direct sunlight.
Please note: Sizes, shapes and ages may vary for plants, as each one is unique. This is especially true in winter or when availability is low. The color also varies depending on the season.
