The botanical name of this succulent is Albuca spiralis. Albuca spiralis 'Frizzle Sizzle' is also frequently used as a synonym. The succulent belongs to the plant genus Albuca, which is assigned to the family Hyacinthaceae. This succulent is native to South Africa.
Albuca spiralis is green. The flower is yellow and only opens during the day. It forms during the flowering period in spring. You will receive a plant in an 8.5cm pot, with a total height of approximately 12cm including the pot and plant. The achievable growth height is 30cm.
The care of Albuca spiralis is relatively easy. A mixture of cactus and succulent soil is suitable as a substrate. Albuca spiralis does not tolerate waterlogging, so ensure good drainage of the water and let the substrate dry out before watering again. In general, this succulent tolerates too little water rather than too much. Fertilization can be done once a month, i.e., every four weeks.
This succulent's light requirements are met in a sunny location. The optimal temperature is between 20°C and 30°C. Albuca spiralis can spend the summer outdoors after being gradually accustomed to direct sun. In winter, the temperature should be around 15°C.
In addition, fertilizing is stopped, and watering is reduced. However, this succulent is not suitable for the garden. The bulb enters dormancy in autumn and winter and then sprouts anew in spring.
Propagation of this succulent is possible through seeds, but also through bulbils. Albuca spiralis is mildly toxic, and we cannot guarantee its compatibility with animals.
A note: Sizes and shapes can vary for plants where each piece is unique. This is especially true in winter or when availability is low. The coloration also varies depending on the season.
