Sansevieria

Sansevieria belongs to the asparagus family (Asparagaceae) and is native to subtropical areas in Africa, Madagascar and South Asia. The leaves are flattened to round. Elongated, tubular flowers, usually white, form on the panicle-like or spike-like inflorescence. They are often only open for a single night. ##break## A bright and warm location should be chosen. As substrate a mixture of cactus and succulent soil and mineral parts is suitable. Like all succulents, stagnant moisture should be avoided with Sansevierie. Therefore, the substrate should be allowed to dry before each new watering; excess water should be able to drain off well. You can fertilize about once a month, i.e. about every four weeks. In summer, you can put the succulents outdoors after you have gradually acclimated them to direct sunlight. However, you should bring them back into the house at temperatures below 15°C. In winter the temperature should be around 15°C. Fertilization is no longer used, watering is reduced. Since Sansevieria is poisonous for some animals, no guarantee can be given for compatibility with animals.
