Lithops

The genus Lithops, which belongs to the Ice Plant family (Aizoceae), includes about 40 species and is mainly found in southern Africa. They are also called "living stones" because they are very similar to the stones between which they normally grow. They usually grow almost completely underground for protection from the sun.
Between the pair of leaves a flower develops in autumn. It is white or yellow. After blooming, a new one develops between the old pair of leaves. From this moment on, you must not water the plant until the old leaves have completely dried out, otherwise the plant will die.

Lithops require a bright to full sunny location.

The succulent plant needs a permeable mineral substrate.

They need to be watered far less than other succulents and are very sensitive to overwatering, so it is very important that the substrate is dried before watering the next time.

It can be carefully fertilized about every four to six weeks.

In summer, the succulents can be moved outside after they have gradually become acclimatized to direct sunlight. However, you should bring them back into the house at temperatures below 10°C.
After the growing period from May to November the plant has its resting period. It should be wintered at 10°C in a bright place and kept completely dry. The old pair of leaves shrinks and a new one forms.
